Glue-free folding box dieline based on FEFCO 0427. Download SVG, PDF or DXF. Free, no login required.
A folding box is a single-piece carton that comes flat and assembles without glue, tape, or staples. When you download a template or a dieline from packmyman, you will get layers separated based on green for crease and red for cut, and this makes your life much easier and faster. The good part is you can download this box dieline template is several formats like svg, dxf and pdf. The good part about this folding fefco 0427 box is you can either use it as a gift box to pack gifts for your friends and families or you can even use it as your primary brand packaging.
And yeah if you need another similar box which is kind of similar to a pizza box is Self Locking Box – FEFCO 0429
This folding box follows FEFCO 0427, a hinged lid design where the lid extends from the back panel and folds forward to close. This is a glue free box therefore the base uses interlocking tabs instead of adhesive or glue. What separates this from a basic tuck-end boxes is how the base comes together, the side walls fold inward first, then the long bottom flaps lock over them. Get that sequence right and the box clicks into shape in seconds.
In short, it folds into shape easily and stays securely closed, making it perfect for eCommerce, retail, gifting, and more.
This box shows up a lot in e-commerce, cosmetics, candles, and retail gift packaging. It works particularly well for businesses hand-packing orders without any industrial equipment. The best part about this folding box is no glue gun, no tape dispenser, just fold and lock.
You'll find it used for electronics, folded clothing like socks and scarves, subscription box inserts, and corporate gift kits. The hinged lid gives it a cleaner unboxing feel than a standard tuck-end, it opens like a proper box rather than a cereal packet.
One thing worth knowing , it is optional but good if you care about user experience, if you're not cutting a finger hole into the lid, users will struggle to figure out where to open it from. The closed box looks the same from most angles. A small semicircle cut into the front edge of the lid solves this completely. It's a small detail but it matters for the end user experience.
The generator takes length, width, height, number of locks, lock width, lock distance, and flap width. All dimensions are internal, what you enter is what fits inside, the outer size adjusts automatically based on your material thickness.
Material thickness goes in as a separate field. Be careful while entering the thickness because the cutout hole and the fold depends on thickness and if it is wrong your box will not come right. This is most crucial aspect of making this folding fefco 0427 box.
The number of locks controls how many tabs lock the base. Two is enough for most products. If you're packing something heavier or want a firmer base, adding more locks helps. Lock width and lock distance control the tab geometry, wider locks grip better but need clearance from the panel edges to fold without tearing. If you prefer not dealing with locks and want a simple easy box which folds like a book then try our Flat pack box.
These are internal dimensions for products that fit naturally in this box style. Your actual outer dimensions will be slightly larger depending on material thickness.
Product | Length | Width | Height |
|---|---|---|---|
Soap bar | 100mm | 65mm | 35mm |
Candle (small jar) | 90mm | 90mm | 90mm |
Folded t-shirt | 280mm | 220mm | 40mm |
Socks (pair, folded) | 120mm | 100mm | 35mm |
Skincare set (2 items) | 180mm | 80mm | 60mm |
Small electronics / earbuds | 130mm | 100mm | 45mm |
Chocolate bar | 160mm | 80mm | 15mm |
Corporate gift kit | 280mm | 200mm | 70mm |
Add 2-3 mm tolerance to each dimension for product movement. Enter material thickness accurately, and you have a ready made box that you can directly send to cutter.
One most important thing to remember during your initial fold is you need to hold the front and back side panels inward with both hands while the flaps tuck inside and lock. If you let go too early the panels spring back out and the flaps pop free before they seat properly. It takes one or two attempts to get the feel for it after that it becomes fast.
Pre-crease every fold line before you start. A bone folder works best but the back of a spoon does the job. On cardstock heavier than 300gsm skipping this step leads to panels that don't sit square and edges that look rough.
If the lid feels loose after assembly your flap width is too small. Add 3-5mm and regenerate. The flaps need enough material to grip the front slots, especially important if the box is going through postal handling.
If you're laser cutting, run one test sheet before a full batch. The base lock tabs are tight geometry, if your machine's kerf is slightly wide the tabs come out too narrow and won't grip.
300-350gsm cardstock is the reliable choice for retail and gift packaging. Stiff enough to hold shape without support, light enough that the tabs fold without cracking. Below 280gsm the base starts to feel soft on anything larger than 150mm long.
Kraft at 300gsm or above works well. It stamps and labels cleanly and suits candles, soap, and food products where a natural look fits the brand.
E-flute corrugated at around 1.5mm is worth considering if the box needs to handle shipping stress. Lightweight with decent crush resistance. B-flute at 3mm works for heavier contents but the lock tabs are harder to fold cleanly — score the crease lines more deeply before assembly.
SVG works with Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, LightBurn, and RDWorks. Vector based, scales without precision loss — useful when you're working across different material sizes or machine beds.
PDF is the straightforward option for printing and hand cutting, or sending to a print shop. Opens accurately on any PDF viewer without needing design software.
DXF is what most commercial diecutting houses will ask for. Compatible with AutoCAD, CorelDRAW, and CNC cutting systems. Cut lines and crease lines sit on separate layers so CAM software picks them up without any manual sorting.
